Mini-Exhibition at Traditional Indigo Dyeing Workshop “Tango no Sekku” March 12 ~ May 6
We exhibit indigo-dyed works with patterns in connection with Tango no Sekku (the Boys' Festival), koinobori (carp-shaped streamer) and etc.
Hands-on indigo dyeing workshop (with additional charge) is available during the opening hours. For further information, please refer to the page of Traditional Indigo Dyeing Workshop.

Annual Event Exhibition “Higan” March 6 ~ March 25
The display for "Higan" conducted at the Kitamura House in Hadano city is introduced on exhibition panels.
Higan is a week-long seasonal event held in Japan each spring and autumn. It centers on the spring equinox and autumn equinox.

Annual Event Exhibition “Kokagesan Festival” March 6 ~ March 25
This exhibition recreates a festival with nobori (banner flags) and offerings of cocoons and crops at the Kokagesan shrine, which is dedicated to the deity of sericulture.

Tour about Living in the Folk Houses
A curator of the Minkaen will give explanations based on interviews about how people lived in the folk houses of each area.
You can join or leave halfway through the tour, so please feel free to join on the spot.

Special Exhibition “Long, long ago, an old woman in a village went to the river to do the laundry…: Life with Mountains and Rivers Ⅱ” January 4 ~ May 25
Not too long ago, when mountains and rivers were the most familiar nature surroundings, rivers and irrigation water were directly involved in daily lives. This exhibition displays the folk tools (materials from the Minkaen collection and folklore materials from Kawasaki City) once used in the "living with the river" and introduce the traditional way of life mainly around Kawasaki City. Furthermore, the exhibition will introduce water utilization and water transportation facilities, disaster countermeasures, and traces of faith centered on the Tama River, using photographs, illustrations, and related folk tools, to reconsider coexistence with the environment.
*There are gallery talks presented by a curator, including special versions for children.
