Robata-no-Kai (炉端の会) (The Fireplace volunteer group)
The heat and smoke from the fires in the sunken hearth not only protects the house from damp and decay, but also introduces a breath of life into the houses.

The volunteer group (Robata-no-Kai) will be on vacation during the period below.July 28 (Tuesday) ~ September 6 (Sunday), 2026
Services including (1) Fire in the sunken hearth, (2) Room on raised floor open to the public, (3) Guided tour on fixed hour, (4) Guided tour for groups, will be suspended during the period.We appreciate your understanding.
- (1) and (2) may be carried out voluntarily.
- (3) and (4) will be suspended during July 1 (Wednesday) ~ September 6 (Sunday).
Activities
Fire in the Sunken Hearth
We light a fire in the sunken hearth. Visitors are welcome to sit and relax by the fireside.
