Robata-no-Kai (炉端の会) (The Fireplace volunteer group)

The heat and smoke from the fires in the sunken hearth not only protects the house from damp and decay, but also introduces a breath of life into the houses.

[Activities during Year-End and New Year days]

The group will be on winter vacation as below

• December 16 (Tuesday), 2025 ~ January 3 (Saturday), 2026.

During the period above, (1) fire in the sunken hearth, (2) living space on raised floor open to the visitors, (3) guided tour on fixed hour, (4) guided tour for groups (reservation required) are suspended.
We appreciate your understanding.

• (1) and (2) may be carried out voluntarily during December 16 ~ December 28.

Activities

Fire in the Sunken Hearth

We light a fire in the sunken hearth. Visitors are welcome to sit and relax by the fireside.

Guided Tour

A group of more than 5 people can make a reservation for guided tour. English-speaking guide is available.
