Not too long ago, when mountains and rivers were the most familiar nature surroundings, rivers and irrigation water were directly involved in daily lives. This exhibition displays the folk tools (materials from the Minkaen collection and folklore materials from Kawasaki City) once used in the "living with the river" and introduce the traditional way of life mainly around Kawasaki City. Furthermore, the exhibition will introduce water utilization and water transportation facilities, disaster countermeasures, and traces of faith centered on the Tama River, using photographs, illustrations, and related folk tools, to reconsider coexistence with the environment.
